Matthew 13 | Matthew 15

14:1

Ἐν ἐκείνῳ τῷ καιρῷ ἤκουσεν Ἡρῴδης ὁ τετραάρχης τὴν ἀκοὴν Ἰησοῦ

en ekeinō tō kairō ēkousen Hērōdēs ho tetraarchēs tēn akoēn Iēsou

By that - time heard Herod - tetrarch the news of Jesus

14:2

καὶ εἶπεν τοῖς παισὶν αὐτοῦ Οὗτός ἐστιν Ἰωάννης ὁ Βαπτιστής αὐτὸς ἠγέρθη ἀπὸ τῶν νεκρῶν διὰ τοῦτο αἱ δυνάμεις ἐνεργοῦσιν ἐν αὐτῷ

kai eipen tois paisin autou Houtos estin Iōannēs ho Baptistēs autos ēgerthē apo tōn nekrōn dia touto hai dynameis energousin en autō

And said on the [the] servants of Him’” This is John - Baptist He he arose from of the [the] dead on account of this the miracles operate in to Him

14:3

Ὁ γὰρ Ἡρῴδης κρατήσας τὸν Ἰωάνην ἔδησεν ‹αὐτὸν› καὶ ἐν φυλακῇ ἀπέθετο διὰ Ἡρῳδιάδα τὴν γυναῖκα Φιλίππου τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ

ho gar Hērōdēs kratēsas ton Iōanēn edēsen auton kai en phylakē apetheto dia Hērōdiada tēn gynaika Philippou tou adelphou autou

- for Herod having taken hold the John bound him And in prison put [him] on account of Herodias the wife of Philip of the brother of Him’”

14:4

ἔλεγεν γὰρ ««ὁ Ἰωάννης» ⇔ αὐτῷ Οὐκ ἔξεστίν σοι ἔχειν αὐτήν

elegen gar ho Iōannēs autō Ouk exestin soi echein autēn

He said for - John to Him Not it is lawful to You to have her

14:5

καὶ θέλων αὐτὸν ἀποκτεῖναι ἐφοβήθη τὸν ὄχλον ὅτι ὡς προφήτην εἶχον

kai thelōn auton apokteinai ephobēthē ton ochlon hoti hōs prophētēn eichon

And willing him to kill he was afraid the crowd - as a prophet had

14:6

Γενεσίοις δὲ γενομένοις τοῦ Ἡρῴδου ὠρχήσατο ἡ θυγάτηρ τῆς Ἡρῳδιάδος ἐν τῷ μέσῳ καὶ ἤρεσεν Ἡρῴδῃ

genesiois de genomenois tou Hērōdou ōrchēsato hē thygatēr tēs Hērōdiados en tō mesō kai ēresen Hērōdē

[The] birthday however having been of the of Herod danced the daughter - Herodias in - the midst And pleased to Herod

14:7

ὅθεν μεθ’ ὅρκου ὡμολόγησεν αὐτῇ δοῦναι ὃ ἐὰν αἰτήσηται

hothen meth’ horkou hōmologēsen autē dounai ho ean aitēsētai

from where with oath he promised on her to give that which if she should ask

14:8

Ἡ δὲ προβιβασθεῖσα ὑπὸ τῆς μητρὸς αὐτῆς Δός μοι φησίν Ὧδε ἐπὶ πίνακι τὴν κεφαλὴν Ἰωάννου τοῦ Βαπτιστοῦ

HĒ de probibastheisa hypo tēs mētros autēs Dos moi phēsin hōde epi pinaki tēn kephalēn Iōannou tou Baptistou

The however having been urged on by - mother her Give Me she says here at a platter the head John of the Baptist

14:9

Καὶ λυπηθεὶς ὁ βασιλεὺς διὰ τοὺς ὅρκους καὶ συνανακειμένους ἐκέλευσεν δοθῆναι

kai lypētheis ho basileus dia tous horkous kai synanakeimenous ekeleusen dothēnai

And having been grieved - King on account of the oaths And reclining with [him] He commanded to be given

14:10

καὶ πέμψας ἀπεκεφάλισεν ‹τὸν› Ἰωάννην ἐν τῇ φυλακῇ

kai pempsas apekephalisen ton Iōannēn en tē phylakē

And having sent he beheaded - of John in the prison

14:11

Καὶ ἠνέχθη ἡ κεφαλὴ αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ πίνακι καὶ ἐδόθη τῷ κορασίῳ ἤνεγκεν τῇ μητρὶ αὐτῆς

kai ēnechthē hē kephalē autou epi pinaki kai edothē tō korasiō ēnenken tē mētri autēs

And was brought the head of Him’” at a platter And was given - girl brought the mother her

14:12

καὶ προσελθόντες οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ἦραν τὸ πτῶμα ἔθαψαν αὐτόν ἐλθόντες ἀπήγγειλαν τῷ Ἰησοῦ

kai proselthontes hoi mathētai autou ēran to ptōma ethapsan auton elthontes apēngeilan tō Iēsou

And having come - disciples of Him’” took up the body buried Him having come proclaimed [it] - of Jesus

14:13

Ἀκούσας δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἀνεχώρησεν ἐκεῖθεν ἐν πλοίῳ εἰς ἔρημον τόπον κατ’ ἰδίαν καὶ ἀκούσαντες οἱ ὄχλοι ἠκολούθησαν αὐτῷ πεζῇ ἀπὸ τῶν πόλεων

akousas de ho Iēsous anechōrēsen ekeithen en ploiō eis erēmon topon kat’ idian kai akousantes hoi ochloi ēkolouthēsan autō pezē apo tōn poleōn

Having heard however - Jesus withdrew from there in boat for wilderness a place With private And having heard [of it] - crowds they followed to Him on foot from of the cities

14:14

Καὶ ἐξελθὼν εἶδεν πολὺν ὄχλον καὶ ἐσπλαγχνίσθη ἐπ’ αὐτοῖς ἐθεράπευσεν τοὺς ἀρρώστους αὐτῶν

kai exelthōn eiden polyn ochlon kai esplanchnisthē ep’ autois etherapeusen tous arrōstous autōn

And having gone out he saw a great crowd And was moved with compassion in to them He healed the sick of them

14:15

Ὀψίας δὲ γενομένης προσῆλθον αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταὶ λέγοντες Ἔρημός ἐστιν ὁ τόπος καὶ ἡ ὥρα ἤδη παρῆλθεν ἀπόλυσον 〈〈οὖν〉 τοὺς ὄχλους ἵνα ἀπελθόντες εἰς τὰς κώμας ἀγοράσωσιν ἑαυτοῖς βρώματα

Opsias de genomenēs prosēlthon autō hoi mathētai legontes Erēmos estin ho topos kai hē hōra ēdē parēlthen apolyson oun tous ochlous hina apelthontes eis tas kōmas agorasōsin heautois brōmata

Evening however having come came to Him - disciples saying Desolate is - place And the an hour already is gone by Dismiss therefore the crowds so that having gone for the villages they might buy themselves food

14:16

Ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς Οὐ χρείαν ἔχουσιν ἀπελθεῖν δότε ὑμεῖς φαγεῖν

ho de Iēsous eipen autois Ou chreian echousin apelthein dote hymeis phagein

- however Jesus said to them No need have to depart give you to eat

14:17

Οἱ δὲ λέγουσιν αὐτῷ Οὐκ ἔχομεν ὧδε εἰ μὴ πέντε ἄρτους καὶ δύο ἰχθύας

hoi de legousin autō Ouk echomen hōde ei mē pente artous kai dyo ichthyas

- however they speak to Him Not have we here if not five loaves And two fish

14:18

Ὁ δὲ εἶπεν Φέρετέ μοι ὧδε αὐτούς

ho de eipen Pherete moi hōde autous

- however said Bring Me here them

14:19

καὶ κελεύσας τοὺς ὄχλους ἀνακλιθῆναι ἐπὶ τοῦ χόρτου λαβὼν πέντε ἄρτους δύο ἰχθύας ἀναβλέψας εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν εὐλόγησεν κλάσας ἔδωκεν τοῖς μαθηταῖς οἱ δὲ μαθηταὶ ὄχλοις

kai keleusas tous ochlous anaklithēnai epi tou chortou labōn pente artous dyo ichthyas anablepsas eis ton ouranon eulogēsen klasas edōken tois mathētais hoi de mathētai ochlois

And having commanded the crowds to sit down at of the grass having taken five loaves two fish having looked up for the heaven He blessed having broken he gave on the disciples - however disciples crowds

14:20

Καὶ ἔφαγον πάντες καὶ ἐχορτάσθησαν ἦραν τὸ περισσεῦον τῶν κλασμάτων δώδεκα κοφίνους πλήρεις

kai ephagon pantes kai echortasthēsan ēran to perisseuon tōn klasmatōn dōdeka kophinous plēreis

And ate all And were satisfied took up the being over and above of the of fragments twelve hand-baskets full

14:21

οἱ δὲ ἐσθίοντες ἦσαν ἄνδρες ὡσεὶ πεντακισχίλιοι χωρὶς γυναικῶν καὶ παιδίων

hoi de esthiontes ēsan andres hōsei pentakischilioi chōris gynaikōn kai paidiōn

- however eating they were men as if five thousand Without of women And children

14:22

Καὶ εὐθέως ἠνάγκασεν τοὺς μαθητὰς ἐμβῆναι εἰς τὸ πλοῖον καὶ προάγειν αὐτὸν πέραν ἕως οὗ ἀπολύσῃ ὄχλους

kai eutheōs ēnankasen tous mathētas embēnai eis to ploion kai proagein auton peran heōs hou apolysē ochlous

And immediately He compelled the disciples to enter for the a boat And to go before him beyond until of whom shall divorce crowds

14:23

καὶ ἀπολύσας τοὺς ὄχλους ἀνέβη εἰς τὸ ὄρος κατ’ ἰδίαν προσεύξασθαι ὀψίας δὲ γενομένης μόνος ἦν ἐκεῖ

kai apolysas tous ochlous anebē eis to oros kat’ idian proseuxasthai opsias de genomenēs monos ēn ekei

And having dismissed the crowds He went up for the mountain With private to pray evening however having come alone was there

14:24

τὸ δὲ πλοῖον ἤδη σταδίους πολλοὺς ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς ἀπεῖχεν βασανιζόμενον ὑπὸ τῶν κυμάτων ἦν γὰρ ἐναντίος ὁ ἄνεμος

to de ploion ēdē stadious pollous apo tēs gēs apeichen basanizomenon hypo tōn kymatōn ēn gar enantios ho anemos

the however a boat already stadia many from - land being tossed by of the waves was for contrary - wind

14:25

Τετάρτῃ δὲ φυλακῇ τῆς νυκτὸς ἦλθεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς περιπατῶν ἐπὶ τὴν θάλασσαν

tetartē de phylakē tēs nyktos ēlthen pros autous peripatōn epi tēn thalassan

In [the] fourth however prison - night [that] came to they walking at the Sea

14:26

οἱ δὲ μαθηταὶ ἰδόντες αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τῆς θαλάσσης περιπατοῦντα ἐταράχθησαν λέγοντες ὅτι Φάντασμά ἐστιν καὶ ἀπὸ τοῦ φόβου ἔκραξαν

hoi de mathētai idontes auton epi tēs thalassēs peripatounta etarachthēsan legontes hoti Phantasma estin kai apo tou phobou ekraxan

- however disciples having seen him at - sea walking were troubled saying - A ghost is And from of the fear they cried out

14:27

Εὐθὺς δὲ ἐλάλησεν ««ὁ Ἰησοῦς» ⇔ αὐτοῖς λέγων Θαρσεῖτε ἐγώ εἰμι μὴ φοβεῖσθε

euthys de elalēsen ho Iēsous autois legōn Tharseite egō eimi mē phobeisthe

Immediately however He spoke - Jesus to them saying Take courage I am [He] not fear

14:28

Ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ αὐτῷ ὁ Πέτρος εἶπεν Κύριε εἰ σὺ εἶ κέλευσόν με ἐλθεῖν πρὸς σὲ ἐπὶ τὰ ὕδατα

apokritheis de autō ho Petros eipen Kyrie ei sy ei keleuson me elthein pros se epi ta hydata

Answering however to Him - Peter said Lord if yourself are command me to come to You at the waters

14:29

Ὁ δὲ εἶπεν Ἐλθέ Καὶ καταβὰς ἀπὸ τοῦ πλοίου [ὁ] Πέτρος περιεπάτησεν ἐπὶ τὰ ὕδατα καὶ ἦλθεν πρὸς τὸν Ἰησοῦν

ho de eipen Elthe kai katabas apo tou ploiou ho Petros periepatēsen epi ta hydata kai ēlthen pros ton Iēsoun

- however said Come And having descended from of the boat - Peter walked at the waters And [that] came to the Jesus

14:30

βλέπων δὲ τὸν ἄνεμον ‹ἰσχυρὸν› ἐφοβήθη καὶ ἀρξάμενος καταποντίζεσθαι ἔκραξεν λέγων Κύριε σῶσόν με

blepōn de ton anemon ischyron ephobēthē kai arxamenos katapontizesthai ekraxen legōn Kyrie sōson me

looking upon however the wind charging he was afraid And having begun to sink he cried out saying Lord save me

14:31

Εὐθέως δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἐκτείνας τὴν χεῖρα ἐπελάβετο αὐτοῦ καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ Ὀλιγόπιστε εἰς τί ἐδίστασας;

eutheōs de ho Iēsous ekteinas tēn cheira epelabeto autou kai legei autō Oligopiste eis ti edistasas

Immediately however - Jesus having stretched out the hand took hold of Him’” And He says to Him [You] of little faith for Which did you doubt?

14:32

Καὶ ἀναβάντων αὐτῶν εἰς τὸ πλοῖον ἐκόπασεν ὁ ἄνεμος

kai anabantōn autōn eis to ploion ekopasen ho anemos

And having entered of them for the a boat abated - wind

14:33

οἱ δὲ ἐν τῷ πλοίῳ προσεκύνησαν αὐτῷ λέγοντες Ἀληθῶς Θεοῦ Υἱὸς εἶ

hoi de en tō ploiō prosekynēsan autō legontes Alēthōs Theou Huios ei

- however in - boat they worshiped to Him saying Truly of God Son are

14:34

Καὶ διαπεράσαντες ἦλθον ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν εἰς Γεννησαρέτ

kai diaperasantes ēlthon epi tēn gēn eis Gennēsaret

And having passed over they came at the soil for Gennesaret

14:35

καὶ ἐπιγνόντες αὐτὸν οἱ ἄνδρες τοῦ τόπου ἐκείνου ἀπέστειλαν εἰς ὅλην τὴν περίχωρον ἐκείνην προσήνεγκαν αὐτῷ πάντας τοὺς κακῶς ἔχοντας

kai epignontes auton hoi andres tou topou ekeinou apesteilan eis holēn tēn perichōron ekeinēn prosēnenkan autō pantas tous kakōs echontas

And having recognized him - men of the place that sent for all the surrounding region that they offered to Him all the sick being

14:36

καὶ παρεκάλουν αὐτὸν ἵνα μόνον ἅψωνται τοῦ κρασπέδου ἱματίου αὐτοῦ ὅσοι ἥψαντο διεσώθησαν

kai parekaloun auton hina monon hapsōntai tou kraspedou himatiou autou hosoi hēpsanto diesōthēsan

And were begging him so that only they might touch of the fringe clothing of Him’” as many as touched were cured
