Mark 8 | Mark 10

9:1

Καὶ ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς Ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι εἰσίν τινες ὧδε ⇔ τῶν ἑστηκότων οἵτινες οὐ μὴ γεύσωνται θανάτου ἕως ἂν ἴδωσιν τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ Θεοῦ ἐληλυθυῖαν ἐν δυνάμει

kai elegen autois Amēn legō hymin hoti eisin tines hōde tōn hestēkotōn hoitines ou mē geusōntai thanatou heōs an idōsin tēn basileian tou Theou elēlythuian en dynamei

And He said to them Truly I say to you - there are some here of the standing such as not not shall taste of death until - perceive the kingdom of the of God having come in power

9:2

Καὶ μετὰ ἡμέρας ἓξ παραλαμβάνει ὁ Ἰησοῦς τὸν Πέτρον καὶ Ἰάκωβον [τὸν] Ἰωάννην ἀναφέρει αὐτοὺς εἰς ὄρος ὑψηλὸν κατ’ ἰδίαν μόνους μετεμορφώθη ἔμπροσθεν αὐτῶν

kai meta hēmeras hex paralambanei ho Iēsous ton Petron kai Iakōbon ton Iōannēn anapherei autous eis oros hypsēlon kat’ idian monous metemorphōthē emprosthen autōn

And with days six takes with [Him] - Jesus the Peter And James - of John brings up they for mountain high With private alone He was transfigured before of them

9:3

καὶ τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτοῦ ἐγένετο στίλβοντα λευκὰ λίαν οἷα γναφεὺς ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς οὐ δύναται οὕτως λευκᾶναι

kai ta himatia autou egeneto stilbonta leuka lian hoia gnapheus epi tēs gēs ou dynatai houtōs leukanai

And the garments of Him’” it came to pass shining white still much such as a launderer at - land not is able thus to whiten

9:4

καὶ ὤφθη αὐτοῖς Ἠλίας σὺν Μωϋσεῖ ἦσαν συλλαλοῦντες* τῷ Ἰησοῦ

kai ōphthē autois Ēlias syn Mōusei ēsan syllalountes tō Iēsou

And appeared to them Elijah with Moses they were talking with - of Jesus

9:5

Καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ Πέτρος λέγει τῷ Ἰησοῦ Ῥαββί καλόν ἐστιν ἡμᾶς ὧδε εἶναι καὶ ποιήσωμεν τρεῖς σκηνάς σοὶ μίαν Μωϋσεῖ Ἠλίᾳ

kai apokritheis ho Petros legei tō Iēsou Rhabbi kalon estin hēmas hōde einai kai poiēsōmen treis skēnas soi mian Mōusei Ēlia

And He answering - Peter He says - of Jesus Rabbi good is us? here to be And let us make three tabernacles: You one Moses for Elijah

9:6

οὐ γὰρ ᾔδει τί ἀποκριθῇ ἔκφοβοι ἐγένοντο

ou gar ēdei ti apokrithē ekphoboi egenonto

not for he knew Which he should say terrified they were

9:7

Καὶ ἐγένετο νεφέλη ἐπισκιάζουσα αὐτοῖς καὶ φωνὴ ἐκ τῆς νεφέλης Οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ Υἱός μου ἀγαπητός ἀκούετε αὐτοῦ

kai egeneto nephelē episkiazousa autois kai phōnē ek tēs nephelēs Houtos estin ho Huios mou agapētos akouete autou

And it came to pass a cloud overshadowing to them And a voice from - cloud: This is - Son of Me beloved you hear of Him’”

9:8

καὶ ἐξάπινα περιβλεψάμενοι οὐκέτι οὐδένα εἶδον ἀλλὰ τὸν Ἰησοῦν μόνον μεθ’ ἑαυτῶν

kai exapina periblepsamenoi ouketi oudena eidon alla ton Iēsoun monon meth’ heautōn

And suddenly having looked around no longer no one they saw But the Jesus only with them

9:9

Καὶ καταβαινόντων αὐτῶν ἐκ τοῦ ὄρους διεστείλατο αὐτοῖς ἵνα μηδενὶ ἃ εἶδον διηγήσωνται εἰ μὴ ὅταν ὁ Υἱὸς ἀνθρώπου νεκρῶν ἀναστῇ

kai katabainontōn autōn ek tou orous diesteilato autois hina mēdeni ha eidon diēgēsōntai ei mē hotan ho Huios anthrōpou nekrōn anastē

And descending of them from of the mountain He instructed to them so that nothing what they saw they should tell if not when - Son of Man [the] dead had risen

9:10

καὶ τὸν λόγον ἐκράτησαν πρὸς ἑαυτοὺς συζητοῦντες τί ἐστιν τὸ ἐκ νεκρῶν ἀναστῆναι

kai ton logon ekratēsan pros heautous syzētountes ti estin to ek nekrōn anastēnai

And the matter they kept to themselves questioning Which is the from [the] dead to rise [again]

9:11

καὶ ἐπηρώτων αὐτὸν λέγοντες Ὅτι Λέγουσιν οἱ γραμματεῖς ὅτι Ἠλίαν δεῖ ἐλθεῖν πρῶτον;

kai epērōtōn auton legontes Hoti legousin hoi grammateis hoti Ēlian dei elthein prōton

And were asking him saying Why They say - scribes - Elijah it is necessary for to come first?

9:12

Ὁ δὲ ἔφη αὐτοῖς Ἠλίας μὲν ἐλθὼν πρῶτον ἀποκαθιστάνει πάντα καὶ πῶς γέγραπται ἐπὶ τὸν Υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἵνα πολλὰ πάθῃ ἐξουδενηθῇ;

ho de ephē autois Ēlias men elthōn prōton apokathistanei panta kai pōs gegraptai epi ton Huion tou anthrōpou hina polla pathē exoudenēthē

- however He was saying to them Elijah - having come first restores all And How it has been written at the Son of the of Man so that many He should suffer be set at naught?

9:13

ἀλλὰ λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι καὶ Ἠλίας ἐλήλυθεν ἐποίησαν αὐτῷ ὅσα ἤθελον καθὼς γέγραπται ἐπ’ αὐτόν

alla legō hymin hoti kai Ēlias elēlythen epoiēsan autō hosa ēthelon kathōs gegraptai ep’ auton

But I say to you - And Elijah has come they had done to Him how much they desired as it has been written in Him

9:14

Καὶ ἐλθόντες πρὸς τοὺς μαθητὰς εἶδον ὄχλον πολὺν περὶ αὐτοὺς καὶ γραμματεῖς συζητοῦντας αὐτούς

kai elthontes pros tous mathētas eidon ochlon polyn peri autous kai grammateis syzētountas autous

And having come to the disciples they saw crowd a great around they And scribes arguing them

9:15

καὶ εὐθὺς πᾶς ὁ ὄχλος ἰδόντες αὐτὸν ἐξεθαμβήθησαν προστρέχοντες ἠσπάζοντο αὐτόν

kai euthys pas ho ochlos idontes auton exethambēthēsan prostrechontes ēspazonto auton

And immediately all - crowd having seen him were greatly amazed running to [Him] were greeting Him

9:16

Καὶ ἐπηρώτησεν αὐτούς Τί συζητεῖτε πρὸς αὑτούς;

kai epērōtēsen autous Ti syzēteite pros hautous

And He asked them What are you disputing to them?

9:17

Καὶ ἀπεκρίθη αὐτῷ εἷς ἐκ τοῦ ὄχλου Διδάσκαλε ἤνεγκα τὸν υἱόν μου πρὸς σέ ἔχοντα πνεῦμα ἄλαλον

kai apekrithē autō heis ek tou ochlou Didaskale ēnenka ton huion mou pros se echonta pneuma alalon

And she answered to Him alone from of the crowd Teacher I brought the son of Me to You having spirit mute

9:18

καὶ ὅπου ἐὰν αὐτὸν καταλάβῃ ῥήσσει αὐτόν ἀφρίζει τρίζει τοὺς ὀδόντας ξηραίνεται εἶπα τοῖς μαθηταῖς σου ἵνα αὐτὸ ἐκβάλωσιν οὐκ ἴσχυσαν

kai hopou ean auton katalabē rhēssei auton aphrizei trizei tous odontas xērainetai eipa tois mathētais sou hina auto ekbalōsin ouk ischysan

And where if him it seizes it throws down Him he foams gnashes the his teeth is withering away I spoke on the disciples of You so that it they might cast out not they had power

9:19

Ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς αὐτοῖς λέγει Ὦ γενεὰ ἄπιστος ἕως πότε πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἔσομαι; ἀνέξομαι ὑμῶν; φέρετε αὐτὸν πρός με

ho de apokritheis autois legei Ō genea apistos heōs pote pros hymas esomai anexomai hymōn pherete auton pros me

- however He answering to them He says O generation unbelieving until when to you will I be? will I bear with of you? Bring him to me

9:20

Καὶ ἤνεγκαν αὐτὸν πρὸς αὐτόν καὶ ἰδὼν τὸ πνεῦμα εὐθὺς συνεσπάραξεν πεσὼν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἐκυλίετο ἀφρίζων

kai ēnenkan auton pros auton kai idōn to pneuma euthys synesparaxen pesōn epi tēs gēs ekylieto aphrizōn

And they brought him to Him And having seen the spirit immediately threw into convulsions having fallen at - land he began rolling around foaming

9:21

Καὶ ἐπηρώτησεν τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ Πόσος χρόνος ἐστὶν ὡς τοῦτο γέγονεν αὐτῷ; Ὁ δὲ εἶπεν Ἐκ παιδιόθεν

kai epērōtēsen ton patera autou Posos chronos estin hōs touto gegonen autō ho de eipen Ek paidiothen

And He asked the father of Him’” How long a time is as this had been done Him? - however said From childhood

9:22

καὶ πολλάκις εἰς πῦρ αὐτὸν ἔβαλεν ὕδατα ἵνα ἀπολέσῃ αὐτόν ἀλλ’ εἴ τι δύνῃ βοήθησον ἡμῖν σπλαγχνισθεὶς ἐφ’ ἡμᾶς

kai pollakis eis pyr auton ebalen hydata hina apolesē auton all’ ei ti dynē boēthēson hēmin splanchnistheis eph’ hēmas

And often for fire him He put waters so that it might destroy Him but if anything You are able [to do] help to us having been moved with compassion against us?

9:23

Ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτῷ Τὸ Εἰ δύνῃ πάντα δυνατὰ τῷ πιστεύοντι

ho de Iēsous eipen autō To Ei dynē panta dynata tō pisteuonti

- however Jesus said to Him The If You are able [to do] all are possible - believing

9:24

Εὐθὺς κράξας ὁ πατὴρ τοῦ παιδίου ἔλεγεν Πιστεύω βοήθει μου τῇ ἀπιστίᾳ

euthys kraxas ho patēr tou paidiou elegen Pisteuō boēthei mou tē apistia

Immediately having cried - father of the child He said I believe help of Me the unbelief

9:25

Ἰδὼν δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς ὅτι ἐπισυντρέχει ὄχλος ἐπετίμησεν τῷ πνεύματι ἀκαθάρτῳ λέγων αὐτῷ Τὸ ἄλαλον καὶ κωφὸν πνεῦμα ἐγὼ ἐπιτάσσω σοι ἔξελθε ἐξ αὐτοῦ μηκέτι εἰσέλθῃς εἰς αὐτόν

idōn de ho Iēsous hoti episyntrechei ochlos epetimēsen tō pneumati akathartō legōn autō To alalon kai kōphon pneuma egō epitassō soi exelthe ex autou mēketi eiselthēs eis auton

Having seen however - Jesus - was running together crowd rebuked - a spirit unclean saying to Him The mute And a deaf man spirit I command to You come forth out of of Him’” no longer may you enter” for Him

9:26

Καὶ κράξας καὶ πολλὰ σπαράξας ἐξῆλθεν ἐγένετο ὡσεὶ νεκρὸς ὥστε τοὺς πολλοὺς λέγειν ὅτι ἀπέθανεν

kai kraxas kai polla sparaxas exēlthen egeneto hōsei nekros hōste tous pollous legein hoti apethanen

And having cried And many having thrown him into convulsions it came forth it came to pass as if dead so as the many to say - is dead

9:27

ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς κρατήσας τῆς χειρὸς αὐτοῦ ἤγειρεν αὐτόν καὶ ἀνέστη

ho de Iēsous kratēsas tēs cheiros autou ēgeiren auton kai anestē

- however Jesus having taken hold - hand of Him’” He raised up Him And has risen up

9:28

Καὶ εἰσελθόντος αὐτοῦ εἰς οἶκον οἱ μαθηταὶ κατ’ ἰδίαν ἐπηρώτων αὐτόν Ὅτι ἡμεῖς οὐκ ἠδυνήθημεν ἐκβαλεῖν αὐτό;

kai eiselthontos autou eis oikon hoi mathētai kat’ idian epērōtōn auton Hoti hēmeis ouk ēdynēthēmen ekbalein auto

And having entered of Him’” for house - disciples With private were asking Him Why we not were able to cast out it?

9:29

Καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς Τοῦτο τὸ γένος ἐν οὐδενὶ δύναται ἐξελθεῖν εἰ μὴ προσευχῇ

kai eipen autois Touto to genos en oudeni dynatai exelthein ei mē proseuchē

And said to them This the kind in nothing is able to go out if not prayer”

9:30

Κἀκεῖθεν ἐξελθόντες παρεπορεύοντο διὰ τῆς Γαλιλαίας καὶ οὐκ ἤθελεν ἵνα τις γνοῖ

Kakeithen exelthontes pareporeuonto dia tēs Galilaias kai ouk ēthelen hina tis gnoi

From there having gone forth they were passing on account of - of Galilee And not he wanted so that anyone should know

9:31

ἐδίδασκεν γὰρ τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς ὅτι Ὁ Υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου παραδίδοται εἰς χεῖρας ἀνθρώπων ἀποκτενοῦσιν αὐτόν ἀποκτανθεὶς μετὰ τρεῖς ἡμέρας ἀναστήσεται

edidasken gar tous mathētas autou kai elegen autois hoti ho Huios tou anthrōpou paradidotai eis cheiras anthrōpōn apoktenousin auton apoktantheis meta treis hēmeras anastēsetai

He was teaching for the disciples of Him’” And He said to them - - Son of the of Man is delivered for hands of men they will kill Him having been killed with three days He will arise

9:32

οἱ δὲ ἠγνόουν τὸ ῥῆμα καὶ ἐφοβοῦντο αὐτὸν ἐπερωτῆσαι

hoi de ēgnooun to rhēma kai ephobounto auton eperōtēsai

- however they did not understand the saying And they were afraid him to ask

9:33

Καὶ ἦλθον εἰς Καφαρναούμ ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ γενόμενος ἐπηρώτα αὐτούς Τί ὁδῷ διελογίζεσθε;

kai ēlthon eis Kapharnaoum en tē oikia genomenos epērōta autous Ti hodō dielogizesthe

And they came for Capernaum in the house having been made He was asking them What way were you discussing?

9:34

οἱ δὲ ἐσιώπων πρὸς ἀλλήλους γὰρ διελέχθησαν ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ τίς μείζων

hoi de esiōpōn pros allēlous gar dielechthēsan en tē hodō tis meizōn

- however they were silent to each other for they had been discussing in the way who greatest

9:35

Καὶ καθίσας ἐφώνησεν τοὺς δώδεκα καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς Εἴ τις θέλει πρῶτος εἶναι ἔσται πάντων ἔσχατος διάκονος

kai kathisas ephōnēsen tous dōdeka kai legei autois ei tis thelei prōtos einai estai pantōn eschatos diakonos

And having sat down He called the twelve And He says to them If anyone desires first to be it will be all last servant

9:36

Καὶ λαβὼν παιδίον ἔστησεν αὐτὸ ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῶν καὶ ἐναγκαλισάμενος εἶπεν αὐτοῖς

kai labōn paidion estēsen auto en mesō autōn kai enankalisamenos eipen autois

And having taken child He set it in the midst of them And having taken in [His] arms said to them

9:37

Ὃς ἂν ἓν τῶν τοιούτων παιδίων δέξηται ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματί μου ἐμὲ δέχεται καὶ ὃς δέχηται οὐκ ἀλλὰ τὸν ἀποστείλαντά με

Hos an hen tōn toioutōn paidiōn dexētai epi tō onomati mou eme dechetai kai hos dechētai ouk alla ton aposteilanta me

He who - one of the of such children will receive at - name of Me Me receives And who shall receive not But the having sent me

9:38

Ἔφη αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰωάννης Διδάσκαλε εἴδομέν τινα ἐν τῷ ὀνόματί σου ἐκβάλλοντα δαιμόνια 〈〈ὃς οὐκ ἀκολουθεῖ ἡμῖν〉 καὶ ἐκωλύομεν αὐτόν ὅτι ἠκολούθει ἡμῖν

Ephē autō ho Iōannēs Didaskale eidomen tina en tō onomati sou ekballonta daimonia hos ouk akolouthei hēmin kai ekōlyomen auton hoti ēkolouthei hēmin

Answered to Him - John Teacher we saw someone in - name of You casting out demons who not does follow us And we were forbidding Him - was following to us

9:39

Ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν Μὴ κωλύετε αὐτόν οὐδεὶς γάρ ἐστιν ὃς ποιήσει δύναμιν ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματί μου καὶ δυνήσεται ταχὺ κακολογῆσαί με

ho de Iēsous eipen Mē kōlyete auton oudeis gar estin hos poiēsei dynamin epi tō onomati mou kai dynēsetai tachy kakologēsai me

- however Jesus said Not forbid Him no one for is who will do power at - name of Me And will be able readily to speak evil of me

9:40

ὃς γὰρ οὐκ ἔστιν καθ’ ἡμῶν ὑπὲρ ἐστιν

hos gar ouk estin kath’ hēmōn hyper estin

who for not is against us for is

9:41

Ὃς γὰρ ἂν ποτίσῃ ὑμᾶς ποτήριον ὕδατος ἐν ὀνόματι ὅτι Χριστοῦ ἐστε ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν οὐ μὴ ἀπολέσῃ τὸν μισθὸν αὐτοῦ

Hos gar an potisē hymas potērion hydatos en onomati hoti Christou este amēn legō hymin ou mē apolesē ton misthon autou

He who for - might give to drink you a cup water in named - Christ are you? Truly I say to you not not it might destroy the reward of Him’”

9:42

Καὶ ὃς ἂν σκανδαλίσῃ ἕνα τῶν μικρῶν τούτων πιστευόντων ‹εἰς ἐμέ› καλόν ἐστιν αὐτῷ μᾶλλον εἰ περίκειται μύλος ὀνικὸς περὶ τὸν τράχηλον αὐτοῦ καὶ βέβληται εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν

kai hos an skandalisē hena tōn mikrōn toutōn pisteuontōn eis eme kalon estin autō mallon ei perikeitai mylos onikos peri ton trachēlon autou kai beblētai eis tēn thalassan

And who - might cause to stumble one of the little ones these believing in Me good is to Him rather if is put a millstone heavy around the neck of Him’” And he has been cast for the Sea

9:43

Καὶ ἐὰν σκανδαλίζῃ* σε ἡ χείρ σου ἀπόκοψον αὐτήν καλόν ἐστίν κυλλὸν εἰσελθεῖν εἰς τὴν ζωὴν ἢ τὰς δύο χεῖρας ἔχοντα ἀπελθεῖν γέενναν τὸ πῦρ ἄσβεστον

kai ean skandalizē se hē cheir sou apokopson autēn kalon estin kyllon eiselthein eis tēn zōēn ē tas dyo cheiras echonta apelthein geennan to pyr asbeston

And if should cause to stumble You the hand of You cut off her good He is crippled to enter for the life or the two hands having to depart hell the fire unquenchable

9:44

⧼ὅπου ὁ σκώληξ αὐτῶν οὐ τελευτᾷ καὶ τὸ πῦρ σβέννυται⧽

hopou ho skōlēx autōn ou teleuta kai to pyr sbennytai

where - worm of them not dies And the fire is quenched

9:45

καὶ ἐὰν ὁ πούς σου σκανδαλίζῃ σε ἀπόκοψον αὐτόν καλόν ἐστίν εἰσελθεῖν εἰς τὴν ζωὴν χωλὸν ἢ τοὺς δύο πόδας ἔχοντα βληθῆναι γέενναν ⧼εἰς τὸ πῦρ ἄσβεστον⧽

kai ean ho pous sou skandalizē se apokopson auton kalon estin eiselthein eis tēn zōēn chōlon ē tous dyo podas echonta blēthēnai geennan eis to pyr asbeston

And if - foot of You should cause to stumble You cut off Him good He is to enter for the life lame or the two feet having to be cast hell into the fire unquenchable

9:46

⧼ὅπου ὁ σκώληξ αὐτῶν οὐ τελευτᾷ καὶ τὸ πῦρ σβέννυται⧽

hopou ho skōlēx autōn ou teleuta kai to pyr sbennytai

where - worm of them not dies And the fire is quenched

9:47

καὶ ἐὰν ὁ ὀφθαλμός σου σκανδαλίζῃ σε ἔκβαλε αὐτόν καλόν σέ ἐστιν μονόφθαλμον εἰσελθεῖν εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ Θεοῦ ἢ δύο ὀφθαλμοὺς ἔχοντα βληθῆναι γέενναν

kai ean ho ophthalmos sou skandalizē se ekbale auton kalon se estin monophthalmon eiselthein eis tēn basileian tou Theou ē dyo ophthalmous echonta blēthēnai geennan

And if - eye of You should cause to stumble You cast out Him good You is with one eye to enter for the kingdom of the of God or two eyes having to be cast hell

9:48

ὅπου Ὁ σκώληξ αὐτῶν οὐ τελευτᾷ καὶ τὸ πῦρ σβέννυται

hopou ho skōlēx autōn ou teleuta kai to pyr sbennytai

where - worm of them not dies And the fire is quenched’

9:49

Πᾶς γὰρ πυρὶ ἁλισθήσεται ⧼καὶ πᾶσα θυσία ἁλὶ ἁλισθήσεται⧽

Pas gar pyri halisthēsetai kai pasa thysia hali halisthēsetai

Everyone for with fire will be salted and all sacrifice with salt shall be salted

9:50

καλὸν τὸ ἅλας ἐὰν δὲ ἄναλον γένηται ἐν τίνι αὐτὸ ἀρτύσετε; ἔχετε ἑαυτοῖς ἅλα καὶ εἰρηνεύετε ἀλλήλοις

kalon to halas ean de analon genētai en tini auto artysete echete heautois hala kai eirēneuete allēlois

Good [is] the salt if however unsalty becomes in what it will you season? have you themselves salt And be at peace one another
